Have you ever wondered why so many great musicians play music that is very old - Bach, Mozart, Brahms, etc. - while simultaneously seeking out music that is brand new? In the same way that we thrill to experience the newest book, restaurant or movie, musicians get a charge from discovering music that is new to them. And just as we compare our "new" experiences with those that have come before - that writer's last book, that director's first film, etc. - musicians constantly relate the "new" with the "old."
In Silver Nights, it is the dialogue between the two that offers the most insight and the most fun for performer and audience alike. In fact, it may surprise you just how much "past" is alive in the "present" and vice versa. And in the hands of Anne-Marie McDermott and her colorful musician friends, you are guaranteed to have a good time being part of the discussion.
Silver Nights brings you three evenings of music from five centuries in the relaxed and beautiful setting of Vail's Donovan Pavilion. Listen for an hour. Stay for a chat over wine. If the spirit moves you stick around for a completely new second set. Bravo! Vail Music Festival is 25 years young. Let's celebrate with wine, conversation and some very cool music.
